Requirements & commitment

Who can apply, Device Access, and the Builder Commitment

  • African builders — Nigeria-first market, open continent-wide and diaspora
  • No prior tech experience required — commitment to building matters more
  • A device is required — UTP's Device Access Program supports builders who need one

Builder Commitment

  • Meet minimum attendance and weekly participation expectations
  • Complete milestones and submit required projects on time
  • Contribute to the cohort community with respect and integrity
  • Deliver a capstone and venture proposal
  • Uphold the UTP code of conduct

I understand Phase A tuition is ₦1,000,000. The Founding Builder Scholarship is a scholarship seat for accepted Cohort 1 builders (100% coverage) — not a discount that redefines the program. Phase B is earned separately and is not guaranteed by a scholarship.

Scholarships & specializations

Founding awards, future Salt & Craft, open Cohort 1 tracks

Every accepted Cohort 1 builder receives the Founding Builder Scholarship — an investment from UTP’s founding partners and ecosystem supporters, not a discount. A scholarship covers Phase A only; it does not guarantee a Phase B seat.

Founding Year Scholarship (2027 · Cohort 2): every accepted Cohort 2 builder receives 75% coverage (₦250,000 payable).

From 2028: competitive Salt Scholarship (75%, top 5) and Craft Scholarship (50%, top 5). Applicants may qualify for Salt and Craft, but only one scholarship may be accepted. When both apply, the Salt Scholarship takes precedence. All awards are given on merit — Salt and Craft name different strengths, not different standards of fairness.
